Brief Overview

A financial services firm located in Santa Monica, California, specializing in raising institutional assets for investment management firms. A solid brand and marketing package, developed by Ron Spohn and his team at Spohn Design, helped to guide Magnate Interactive's website design and development process. The site is an extension of the firm's physical (print and word of mouth) marketing efforts.

Project Goals

The main goal of the site's creation was to act as a supplement to the tangible collateral materials – to reinforce and enhance them. To help support the firm's message of solidity and trustworthiness, the site was to be designed using a very crisp, stylized, and strong look. High-quality imagery was selected to rest atop each page, and a solid grid using a special font defines the content – all with the intent of eliciting the trust and confidence of the user.

Implementation

The site has a very designed look and makes judicious use of graphics for text content (most site visitors do not have the font used on the site available on their computer). However, all of the text is available on the page, indexable by search engines, and is replaced by graphics in the user's web browser using a special technique. This technique also makes it possible for users with limited or no vision to browse the site using an audible screen-reader. We place just as much importance on accessibility as we do on strong design, and we believe that content should be available to all your potential customers, not just the sighted ones.
